MEDITATE TODAY!

MEDITATE TODAY!

Mindfulness is a way of focusing in the present moment using techniques like meditation, breathwork and yoga. It helps us to become more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that we are better able to manage them rather than be overwhelmed by them.

I practice meditation on a regular basis and find that it helps to reduce any stress I may be experiencing and also induces a feeling of calmness. Meditation has also been shown to reduce anxiety, improve sleep, help control pain, decrease blood pressure, improve cognitive ability amongst other benefits. It can also generate kindness.

A few months ago I attended a Meditation Teacher Training course and have created this Guided Meditation with the subject of Loving Kindness being appropriate for the times we find ourselves in. Meditation is something that everyone can do to improve their mental and emotional health. Choose a quiet time, put on some headphones and have a listen.

Best wishes and stay safe,

Sam x

STRENGTHEN YOUR LUNGS

THROUGH BREATHING

I’d like to share with you this YouTube video with Heather Mason who is a yoga teacher with a post graduate education in neuroscience, physiology, and psychotherapy. She teaches basic yet powerful breath practices that will help strengthen your lungs and relieve stress, while also discussing how breathing can lead to positive brain change. You can fast forward to 3:00 mins as she has issues with the recording to begin with. The video is 48 mins long but once you learn the technique you can practise for as little or as long as you like. Please note Heather advises that you DO NOT practise the second breath she teaches, Kapalabhati, if you are suffering with Covid-19 symptoms.

I hope that you benefit from this video as I have. Smile, breathe and go slowly …

Take good care of yourselves.

Best wishes, Sam x

April is Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month and in order to keep healthy, fit & well it’s vital that we look after ourselves. Massage therapy is effective in reducing the stress hormone cortisol thus bringing about a state of relaxation and reduced anxiety. Stress can effect the body’s ability to fight off infections and can ultimately lead to disease. High cortisol levels can also cause weight gain, high blood pressure and fatigue. Studies demonstrate that Swedish Massage which is a gentle form of massage using long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping helps to relax and energise.
